What to Wear

Be prepared for wet, changeable weather and dress in layers. Casual, comfortable, warm and quick dry layers are best. The weather in our part of Alaska in a single day can vary greatly, from frosty mornings to warm and windy afternoons. Even on sunny days there may be periods of rain and fog. Temperatures generally range from the 40’s to the high 60’s.

Suggestions

Warm Layers Wool sweater, fleece vest and/or fleece jacket.

Shirts and Slacks Comfort is key! Quick dry, lightweight breathable, both long and short sleeve tops.

Warm Thermals Polypropylene or wool to wear under rain pants for kayaking and wet cool days.

Rain Gear Lightweight, good quality rain jacket and pants - for rain and wind.

Hat and Gloves wool or fleece. Ballcap for sunny days.

Casual Lightweight Hiking or Walking Shoes are perfect, remember, comfort is key!

Slip-On Comfort Shoes for around the Lodge.

Warm Socks made of wool (or similar).

Dinner attire is very casual. An extra sweater or fleece layer for outdoor appetizers is handy.

Bathing Suit for Sauna and Hot Tub, and a dip into the bay.

Day Pack for your water bottle, lunch, extra layers and what you need for your outing.

Don't Forget

Binoculars for observing wildlife. The Lodge has extra pairs but having your own is a bonus.

Camera with extra batteries and/or charger.

Personal Items there are no stores on this side of Kachemak Bay, so bring what you need for the week.

Extra Cash and/or a Check Book are helpful for gratuities and incidentals.

Costs in Addition to Your All-Inclusive Rate

Gratuities for the Lodge Team are not included in your rate however; they are much appreciated! Guests generally leave a gratuity (typically 10 – 20%) at the end of their stay which are dispersed equally among the staff.

Fishing License (required by the State of Alaska) is not included in your rate but can be purchased advance online or in Alaska. Bring a printed copy with you.

Spirits The Lodge doesn’t have a liquor license. Guests must bring their own spirits or hard alcohol. Beer and wine are included in your stay.

Special Excursions such as brown bear viewing, fishing, and float plane charters are an additional expense.
