"A visit to Loonsong is an adventure of the heart"
Breathtakingly beautiful scenery,
all day guide service, fabulous meals
“Some travelers go to the ends of the earth to 'get away from it all', and some go to Loonsong Mountain Lake Chalet and finally understand what that really means”
-- Boyd Norton
famous wildlife photographer “Conde Naste Traveler” magazine
Extend your lodge stay for a few more days at Loonsong, surrounded by a million acres of wilderness. Depart Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge Friday afternoon by float plane, spend the long weekend at Loonsong and depart Monday morning back to Homer.
Float plane access is the only way to get to Loonsong, and it is an additional expense.
Loonsong has no electricity - there are propane fuel lights, wood stoves, a gas cooking stove, and hot water for your shower.
One or two couples traveling together or a family have exclusive use of the chalet.
Michael and Diane McBride, the founders and owners, will accompany you and provide gourmet meals and all day guide service.
Fish for rainbow trout, canoe, or row a boat to explore the lake's coves and bays.
The charming chalet has two bedrooms with full beds, large picture windows, a deck and one ¾ bath with shower.
Diane is a fabulous chef and will delight you with her culinary arts. Fine wines and local microbrews are provided.
The traditional Finnish sauna has a sod roof, cedar and tile interior, and handsome log craftsmanship. It is used for private steaming and bathing.
The mountain valley is serene. The silence is broken only by the easy sigh of spruce boughs, the rustle of scented cottonwood leaves and the yodel of resident loons, blending to offer a soothing balm for the spirit.
There is no electricity at Loonsong.
