Founders, Michael and Diane McBride, may join you for a part of your stay at the Lodge.
Michael, a member of the Explorer's Club and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, has more than 40 years experience in the wilds of Alaska. He's a Master Guide, licensed skipper and bush pilot, and has strong expertise in marine biology. Michael is a Nationally Certified Yoga Teacher. He has served as a Smithsonian National Board Member and as a Trustee for The Nature Conservancy. The creative details of your cabin and the lodge have been hand-crafted by Michael.
He was awarded a Legislative Citation for Practical Activism. He is an Advisory Board member and pilot for Lighthawk, "Volunteer pilots flying for conservation in America” and a founding patron of Bateleurs, “Volunteer pilots flying for conservation in Africa”. Diane's background in biology and Master's degree in Education enables her to guide you to full enjoyment of Kachemak Bay's abundant plant and animal life. Diane is a talented artist, and an accomplished gourmet cook, and licensed skipper. Diane’s leadership of the non-profit artists cooperative Bunnell Street Gallery showcases Alaskan artists and provides funding for art education in local schools. For 22 years she has co-hosted a twice weekly radio program “Kachemak Currents” on National Public Radio Station, KBBI. The program offers insights into “The ever changing natural history of Kachemak Bay”.
